Jack William Smith

Jack Smith specializes in preparing and prosecuting patent and trademark applications in a broad range of technology, including medical, industry, science, education, machines, procedures, structures and systems. He is known for his level headed expertise and also consults on new product ideas and business development. Jack is a product designer and holds a multitude of patents and trademarks himself. So, he is value orientated toward the worth of patents, trademarks and has respect for his clients real needs.

With about five decades of experience as a master draftsman illustrator Jack has worked on over four thousand product development projects during his career. His technical drawings and illustrations appear in thousands of patents and many publications throughout the world. One such publication, Leonardo's Lost Robots, was a winner of the 2006 PSP Award For Excellence presented by the Association of American Publishers.

As an advocate for inventors, Jack has been on the board of directors for GRIT (Grass Roots Innovative Technology Association) a 501(c)3 non-profit corporation dedicated to education and innovation. He has also served for over 10 years as Vice President and President of the Inventors' Network IN and United Inventors Association UIA, both are 501(c)3 non-profit corporations dedicated to education and innovation.

Jack has spoken and lectured frequently on the creative process and practical application of innovation principles. He has been an honorary speaker at Minnesota School of Business, Dunwoody Technical Institute, United States Patent and Trademark Office USPTO Patent Depository Library Program, to name a few. He has served as judge for the Industrial Designers Society of America IDSA at the University of Wisconsin, Stout. Jack has also interacted as an expert resource with the Mitchell Hamline School of Law Intellectual Property Institute and Student Legal Clinic in St. Paul, Minnesota.

Before becoming an Intellectual Property Specialist, Jack's work was in project management and manufacturing to specification, where he solved production and design problems, managed cost estimating, purchasing, drafting, established standard procedures and quality assurance guidelines.

Jack received his certificate from California State University (CSU) The Center For Legal Studies and prior education at Metropolitan State University in Minnesota.

Antonio Papageorgiou

Antonio Papageorgiou specializes in preparing and prosecuting patent and trademark applications, and rendering non-infringement and freedom to operate opinions in a broad range of technology, including software, business methods, and electrical/mechanical devices and systems.

Antonio is a partner at Lombard Geliebter. Before joining Lombard Geliebter, Antonio was a partner at Meister Seelig & Fein LLP. Prior to that, he was in-house patent counsel for Cantor Fitzgerald L.P. where he evaluated Cantor's portfolio of issued patents and patent applications for potential licensing value, technical merit, and patentability/validity. He also established a cost effective patent strategy that resulted in a substantial increase in the number of patent applications filed and more importantly in the number of patents granted.

At Cantor Antonio prepared and prosecuted applications directed at some of the firm's "key" technologies, which included appealing a number of patent applications to the Board of Appeals of the U.S. Patent and Trademark Office. He also prepared and negotiated various types of agreements, including software and IP licenses, he performed due diligence on various corporate and IP acquisitions, and he advised executives on patent litigation issues, including issues in a case appealed to the Federal Circuit (eSpeed, Inc. v.Brokertec USA, L.L.C., 480 F.3d 1129 (Fed. Cir. 2007)).

Prior to his in-house experience, Antonio was an associate at the prominent New York law firms Frommer Lawrence & Haug LLP and Brown Raysman Millstein Felder & Steiner, LLP, where he prepared validity, infringement, and right to use opinions, motions for patent interferences, and briefs for patent litigation, and where he prosecuted patents in the software, business method, electrical, and mechanical arts.

Before becoming an attorney, Antonio was an engineer for the Federal Aviation Administration where he designed and supervised installation of systems and facilities that supported air traffic control, including UHF, VHF, and microwave communication systems, instrument and visual landing systems, RADAR systems, middle and outer markers, approach lighting, and facility power and mechanical systems.

Mr. Papageorgiou has represented clients in various administrative and judicial proceedings, including inter partes reviews, reexaminations, and proceedings before U.S. District Courts and the Court of Appeals for the Federal Circuit. REPRESENTATIVE MATTERS

Antonio received his JD degree from St. John’s University School of Law. In addition to other distinctions, Antonio graduated cum laude, in the top 10% of his class and served on the St. John’s Law Review. Antonio received his engineering degree from the City College of New York.
